Volunteer fair to show you what’s on offer and how to get involved

Organisations based at West Lindsey’s new Public Services Hub at the Guildhall are joining forces to improve the support and advice available to their customers.

Citizen’s Advice, Volunteer Centre, Lincolnshire Credit Union and West Lindsey’s Digital Champions are hosting a volunteering drop-in event on Wednesday September 23 to search for volunteers to support their services.

During the event prospective volunteers will be able to find out more about the services provided by these organisations and get more information on the volunteering roles available.

Opportunities include advice and guidance, financial support, ICT support, mentoring, assessing, budgeting and a new ‘hub helpers’ role which will be launched in September.

The event, running from 2pm to 4pm, is part of a joint project between the four organisations to ensure local people are able to easily access the support and advice they need.

Project Coordinator and Volunteer and Employability Lead at West Lindsey District Council Jane Bennett said: “The council’s digital champions have supported over 800 people to develop their IT skills and gain benefits from using online services, including saving money and making successful job applications.

“Volunteering is an extremely rewarding experience and over the past year I have seen many volunteers develop work related skills and move into employment. Seeing the pride volunteers take in sharing their skills with others is brilliant and I urge people to come along to the volunteer fair to find out how they can help others and see what they can gain from volunteering with our organisations.”
